A municipal local-history museum in Suwa-cho. Its permanent exhibition, themed on “roads,” shows the city's cultural properties alongside archaeological, historical and folklore materials.
You can learn Higashimurayama's history all in one place — from the National Treasure Shofukuji Jizodo to local sites and stone tablets — making it a great “first step” for a town walk.
Admission is free. Special and feature exhibitions are sometimes held (content and dates vary by season).
It is usually open 9:30–17:00 and closed Mondays and Tuesdays (when these are public holidays it opens, and that week's Wednesday closes instead). Check official info for the latest.
