About the ambassador
I’m “Iku Laoshi (ikulaoshi),” a YouTuber sharing culture and daily life between Taiwan and Japan.
Most of my viewers are in Taiwan. I care about conveying Japan’s local charm in Taiwanese words and sensibilities.
Now, as Higashimurayama’s tourism ambassador, I’ll guide you to the town’s true highlights in both Japanese and Traditional Chinese.
Why Higashimurayama
When people hear “Higashimurayama,” many think of it as Ken Shimura’s hometown. But this town has real charm far beyond that.
Tokyo’s only National Treasure building, about 100,000 blooming irises, and the nature of the Sayama Hills — just 30–40-some minutes by train from central Tokyo, you can meet a Japan this local and this quiet.
Especially to friends from Taiwan: once you’ve seen Shibuya and Asakusa, come next to “the Tokyo people don’t know yet.” Higashimurayama is the perfect gateway. Come for a day trip, and walk it slowly.
