Higashimurayama municipal children's halls — a place for the town's kids, rain or shine

Rainy days, hot summer days, cold winter days — at times like these, Higashimurayama's “children's halls” are a help. A place for the town's kids that anyone from a newborn to age 18 can use for free. There are five in the city.

Opening hours, fees and event dates change. Before you go, please confirm the latest details on each facility's or organizer's official information.

What is a children's hall?

A children's hall is a public facility where children can play and spend time freely. Higashimurayama has five municipal children's halls: Akitsu, Sakaecho, Fujimi, Kitayama and Honcho. Anyone from a newborn (accompanied by a guardian) to age 18 can use them, and it's free. Being indoors, you can play actively even on rainy, hot or cold days. They also hold parent-and-infant times and seasonal events.

  • Sakaecho Children's Hall (Sakaecho)
  • Fujimi Children's Hall (Fujimicho) — also open Friday evenings.
  • Kitayama Children's Hall (Tamako-cho)
  • Honcho Children's Hall (Honcho)

Opening hours (as a guide)

The common hours for the municipal children's halls are weekdays from about 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. They are also open on Saturdays, during the spring, summer and winter holidays, and on Tokyo Citizens' Day (October 1). Use is free. Note that opening days, hours, eligible ages and event content can vary by hall and season. Before you go, check the latest on Higashimurayama City's official site or each children's hall's guide.

The five halls' names, common hours and being free are based on Higashimurayama City's official “children's hall guide” and “common five-hall guide.” Opening days, hours, eligible ages and events can change. Before heading out with your child, always check the latest in the official information.
