A place to relax with your baby
“Corocoro no Mori” is a parent-child room at Higashimurayama's Comprehensive Childcare Support Center. A place where expectant families, and children not yet attending kindergarten or nursery (mainly ages 0, 1 and 2) and their families, can spend relaxed time. Crawling on soft mats, playing with toys, chatting with other parents and children. There are staff you can consult about little parenting matters too, making it kind even to those anxious about first-time childcare.
Location and opening hours (as a guide)
- Location: near Kumegawa Station (Sakaecho, Higashimurayama, inside the Citizens' Center). Walkable from Kumegawa Sta. (Seibu Shinjuku line).
- Hours as a guide: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed Mondays, Sundays, public holidays and the New Year period.
- For: mainly children aged 0, 1 and 2 and their families, and expectant families.
- People living outside the city can use it too (check the official site for how).
Opening days, hours, eligibility and how to use it (especially for out-of-city visitors) can change. Before you go, check the latest on Higashimurayama City's official site or the “Corocoro no Mori” official site.
When your child gets a bit bigger and wants to play actively, head to the city's children's halls, or in summer to Central Park's Maimai Pond. As your child grows, you can gradually expand the Higashimurayama play spots you visit.
