On Higashimurayama's northern edge, in Akitsu-cho, sits Distant Shores Brewing. A microbrewery founded in 2017, it is run by a British-born owner. The brewery's name is said to nod to the history of sailing ships once carrying ale from England to distant shores. You can enjoy freshly made craft beer — IPA, pale ale, weizen, stout, seasonal brews and more.
The taproom attached to the brewery is where locals gather on weekends. You can savor a freshly poured glass right beside the people who made it. After touring the National Treasure and the woods, dropping by to round off your trip is a nice idea.
